Journey of a Superbug

We all must have pondered,

why of late we get sick so often?

Why are we dealing with,

frequent & multiple infections?

Unlike their omnipresence around us,

like in mountains, deep sea, or a ditch

Why these microorganisms,

find our body as their niche?

When we pop in antimicrobials,

to get rid of the microorganisms

They laugh at our silly efforts,

since they are now ‘resistant’ to them

But wait, the funniest part is yet to come,

one reason for the resistance they develop

It is a gift that we ourselves gave them,

and, we call it ‘Multi-Drug Resistance’

Remember that multiday dose of antibiotics,

which our doctor asked us not to miss

We never completed it sincerely,

which is one reason that led us to this abyss

Another cause for MDR is nature-driven,

due to DNA transfer or mutation

An unhealthy & stressed lifestyle is also to blame

So smile more often and be less in strain
